This is where we hope you will spend most of your trip — inside the boats using them to get to the best surf spots, fishing grounds, exploring Pohnpei waters or just cruising around.

Our main priority with the boats is to get you quickly and safely from point A to B. In five seasons we never had a boat accident or a boat that had to be towed back to the camp. Even if we had a motor problem we always have a boat on standby at the camp to come pick you up, or many friends on the island that would be happy to help us. Our boat pilots are born and raised here. No need of GPS for these guys. They know these reefs like the palms of their hands.

All our boats are very well maintained and equipped with cell phones, radio, first aid kits, GPS (when needed) coolers for food and drinks, ice, shaded area, seat cushions and fishing and diving equipment (when needed).

During the summer of 2009 (around July, August and September) we will be up grading, fixing and adding a few new motors to the boats so they might look a little bit different (and better) then the ones described below.

Orange Boat

Yamaha fiberglass boat with twin 40hp Yamaha Enduro motors, sun protection, four pole holders and 2 outriggers holders. This is our official fishing boat. Rides good under clean or windy ocean conditions and the twin motors always guarantee a safe ride home.

Blue Boat

Marine Six fiberglass boat with a single 130 hp Four Stroke Honda Motor, sun protection, pole holders. Ideal boat for inside the lagoon, surfing, and exploring the hidden corners of Pohnpei.

The Bus

Marine Six boat with twin 75 hp Honda Four Stroke motors, sun protection, pole holders, stereo. Ideal boat for longer trips inside or outside the lagoon to places like Ant Atoll or Nan Madol. The full sun protection and stereo makes the ride smooth and fun.

Speedy

Marine Six fiberglass boat powered by a single 130 Honda Four Stroke motor. Super fast! Has a live bait well and sun protection (not pictured here). Since the console is located way far back we have a big open area in the front of the boat for casting or launching your kite. The live bait well is also used to bring those GT’s back alive to the hotel for dinner!

Yamaha 25 ft.

A 25 ft. long Yamaha fiberglass boat powered by a 90 hp Tohatsu outboard motor, this boat is mostly used as a backup boat in case we have any kind of problem with the other boats in our fleet, or for inside the lagoon fishing charters. It has a small sun protected area, live bait well and lots of pole holders.

Sakurai, Our Newest Boat

35 ft. Yamaha fiberglass boat powered by a brand new single 150 hp Honda Four Stroke motor. This boat rides very well in calm or really windy conditions due to its size and weight. When parked it has lots of space for sitting down, lying down, surfboards, storage and moving around.

This boat has a very large sun protected area. Around 80% of the boat is covered for sun and rain protection, dry compartment and stereo.

Aquatrax F-12 Honda Four Stroke Jet Ski

There is no faster way to check the surf anywhere on the island. Also great to rescue lost surfboards and let’s not forget those special days at other surf breaks around the island.

Jet Ski Tours

Let one of our experienced drivers take you to places where hardly any tourists have been, not to mention in record speed. Get to places too shallow to reach by boat and not accessible by car. Incredible mangrove channels, snorkeling and beautiful beaches. There is no better and faster way to see the hidden beauties of Pohnpei.

Surfboards

No surfboards? No Problem! The Pohnpei Surf Club has a quiver of surfboards for guests to use.

Naish Stand Up Paddle Boards

We have just received three brand new Naish Stand Up Paddle Boards (9’6, 10'6", 11'4" and 11'6") available for guests to use.

Something new and cool to do on those flat days. Paddle up the river or over incredible clear water and pristine coral reefs, not to mention a good workout.

Also fun on those small days at the Light House Pass right outside PSC.

Boat Rides

We leave it up to the guests to choose when they want to leave based on weather, waves and activities to be done that day.

With up to eight guests we use only one boat. When we have more then 8 guests we do start using a second boat.

On most surf days we have a good breakfast and go.

If we have two boats going the first one leaves early, with or without breakfast and the second one leaves around one to two hours later.

That helps to break the crowd apart. We usually bring some snacks and water on the boat but you are welcome to bring your own food or order some take-out from the restaurant.

Ideally, we want to spend the whole day out, especially if the surf is good. When we do have two boats out a group that wants to return to the hotel can go back on one of the boats, usually leaving the bigger boat out at the line up for a later return to the hotel.

Easy!
